Association “Youth Initiatives” is a youth organization founded on 01.12.2006 by seven young people aged 23 to 35 years. The organization is defined as non-profit organization, situated in Pleven with an address for correspondence: +359 889 242 157, e-mail: miniciativi@gmail.com
Main objectives of the organization
1. Planning, development and project management. 2. Create conditions to support the social integration of young people. 3. Active struggle against drug addiction and other dependencies. 4. Organization of tourist and cultural events. 5. Promotion of conservation of the environment. 6. Encouraging and organizing activities in the field of sport. 7. Building Communities of youth leaders. 8. Initiating a partnership between youth and other organizations.
Human Resources The organization is composed of 40 young people working in different fields and 60 volunteers who participate actively in the realization of its goals. The team consists of specialists in law, economics, informatics, education, professional counseling and others. Each of them has already built image and reputation in its field of action. Members of the association have extensive experience in developing and implementing of projects.
Successfully implemented youth activities and initiatives for 2007-2011 
Association “Youth Initiatives” is one of the most active youth organizations acting on the territory of Pleven region. During 2007, the President and Accountant of Association have participated in the implementation of p
roject financed under a Program of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy. The name of the project was „Planning of the local economic development in the Danube municipalities” and allowed them to gain substantial experience. In the same year, they have participated also in the implementation of project financed by Progamme Phare Cross-border Cooperation Bulgaria - Romania. The project was in the field of ecotourism between Pleven Region and
County Olt(Romania) and its objective was to encourage the ecotourism in the cross-border area.During the year 2008 in the frame of project “Youth Informational – Consultant Center “Intelekt” we have founded the first sport club in American football in Pleven - "Brave hearts". For a short time, due to the team of Youth Centre Association and „Youth Initiatives” was organized the first official meeting between an American football sport club "Braveheart" - Pleven

and "TEAM" Sofia. Stadium gathered over 3000 people. On January 10, 2009 by YICC – Pleven we founded the first youth internet radio in Pleven – “Youth Zone” – which in the moment promotes NCEYPI и YICC organizations in the country. The radio transmission is broadcast on Radio ORV – Varna
www.radioorv.com and radio MIX – Sofia www.mixbg.net . In 2008, the Youth Association Youth Initiatives realized the second project funded from SAYS(State Agency for Youth and Sport) – „To stand openly next to each other” – on National initiatives and campaigns – the project initiated a dialogue between youth cultural communities. The local cultural diversity was presented through informal dialogue between young people from different ethnicities communities. Through the project were conducted round tables, debates and advertising c
ampaigns have encouraged young people to participate in cultural life, and provoke a desire for understanding and collaboration. In 2008 the team of Association „Youth Initiatives” and “Youth Information - Consulting Center "Intelekt" - Pleven and the school board and the government financial business school "Intellect" under the "Libraries for Bulgarian schools" initiative of First Investment
Bank in collaboration with the Foundation for “Civil Works Initiatives”, won the project through which the school library of the school was updated and expanded. Since the year 2008 martial arts Aikido and Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do have been practiced in YICC Pleven. Instructors are representatives of the International Martial Arts and Special Tactics Institute - IMASTI.
Activity with martial arts continues actively in 2011. Along with sports activities, we held lectures, consultations and training in law, european integration, psychology, economics, criminology, literature, agriculture, social affairs, health, music. Among its tasks for 2011, the team of Association „Youth Initiatives” includes supporting and organizing of sports events and environmental activities, development of projects targeting for youth. All activities implemented by the team are summarized and published in regional newspaper entitled „Young, tolerant and informed”, which is distributed free on the territory of Pleven. At the beginning of 2011 the team of Youth Center - Pleven jointly with the Association of Youth Initiatives becomes partners in the project "Such is life”. The project was won and is implemented by the Association of Rural Youth Together. The partner’s commitment of Youth Centre and Association Youth Initiatives are to ensure the providing of publicity and information, preparation of brochures and promotional publications and creation of a website: www.ssmzaedno.org with which to promote the project. Since 2011 the youngsters from the Centre began to visualize their own initiatives in a new attractive way through video clips, by presenting their ideas in a musical way with their own music, script and actor’s participation. Among the tasks for 2012 the team supports and organizes sports and environmental events with accent on project elaboration for the youth and musical activities.
PLEVEN NOMINATION FOR MEMBER OF THE JURY OF THE EUROPEAN DRUG PREVENTION PRIZE
The Youth Informational–Consultant Center “Intelekt”, Pleven (http://www.pleven.mikc.bg/node/11), by School for children with special education needs „P.R. Slaveykov”, Pleven, received an invitation from the Secretariat of the Pompidou Group Council of Europe to appoint its representative to participate actively in the jury for the next two cycles of the European Drug Prevention Prize.
The Co-operation Group to Combat Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in Drugs (Pompidou Group) is an inter-governmental body formed in 1971 at the initiative of the late French President Georges Pompidou.
In 1980 the Group was incorporated into the institutional framework of the Council of Europe and at present it comprises 35 member states
The European Drug Prevention Prize.
(http://www.coe.int/t/dg3/pompidou/Initiatives/PreventionPrize/default_en.asp), launched in 2004, is awarded every two years to three drug prevention projects that fully involve young people, either in the development and implementation of activities, decision-making, project management and/or evaluation.
The Pompidou Group awards this Prize every two years in order to highlight good-quality drug prevention projects that have proved success in practice in involving young people. In general, it aims to encourage the development of drug prevention work that involves young people.
The Youth Informational–Consultant Center „Intelekt”, Pleven, has got a great number of regional, national and international youth initiatives and projects. The nominated person of Youth Centre is Petya Hristova, a student in the Mathematical high school in Pleven. She is a volunteer with the Youth Centre since its beginning and participates in all of the projects, initiatives and campaigns of this organization.
During the year of 2010 European Drug Prevention Prize, the project „Together Against Drugs” on School for children with special education needs „P.R. Slaveykov”, Pleven, has been commended by the Council of Europe on cooperation in combating drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking.
From a total of 80 projects submitted from 26 European countries for the European Drug Prevention Prize, 2010, in Strasbourg Commission selected 11 projects it deems most attractive and innovative in terms of content and participation of young people in them. Among these 11 projects is the „Together Against Drugs” on School for children with special education needs „P.R. Slaveykov”, Pleven, Bulgaria.
